Cleaning Your Pit Bike Carb
If you are having some flat spots while changing gears, you may need to clean out your pit bike carburetor. Cleaning and maintaining your pit bike carb is going to not only make your bike perform better; it is also going to preserve the life of your bike. Here is an easy step by step guide to cleaning your carb efficiently.
1. After verifying that the fuel connection is turned off, unscrew the bolts that hold the carburetor to the bikes manifold, and then disconnect all of the hoses. Now unscrew the needle at the top of your pit bike carb, and you should then be able to fully remove the cab from the manifold of the bike.
2. When the carb is out, lay it on a flat surface upside down. You should then be able to unscrew the screws that are holding it together, and then locate the 2 different jets. This would be the Pilot jet, and the Main jet. To clean them, take them out, and blow the crud off with an air compressor.
3. You may also want to blow around the bowl, before you place the jets back into the carburetor. This will prevent it the jest from easily getting dirty again.
Once everything is clean, you can go ahead and put the carburetor back into the manifold. Do this by reversing the first step that it is listed above. Cleaning your pit bike carb is easy to do; it just takes a little bit of time. The time is worth it, for the overall performance and longevity of your pit bike.
